Staff and Liaison Officers

  • Tasks

    Swiss Armed Forces members are deployed in various peacekeeping missions as staff and liaison officers. The scope of possibilities is multifaceted: Swiss officers perform services for the command of the contingent of the Swiss Armed Forces in Kosovo, are active in international functions within different staff areas or assume various responsibilities as advisors to commanders in specific specialised branches.

      SWISSCOY in Kosovo is the Swiss Armed Forces largest peace support operation to date. 215 men and women undertake a wide variety of functions in support of Kosovo Force (KFOR).

    • EUFOR ALTHEA

      Since 2004, up to 20 Swiss Armed Forces personnel have been working in Liaison and Observation Teams (LOT) supporting EUFOR ALTHEA in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

    • UN military observers and staff officers

      Since 1990, Swiss Officers have supported UN in various mission areas as military observers and staff officers.

    • NNSC

      The Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC) on the Demarcation Line between North and South Korea is the longest Swiss peace support mission to date. The NNSC is perma­nently occupied by five Swiss and five Swedish officers.

        Interested women and men can apply to the SWISSINT Competence Centre for a peace-promoting mission abroad within the framework of the Swiss Armed Forces. We are looking for experts from a wide variety of professions. The basic requirements differ depending on the mission and type of operation.
